New publication on ant thermal tolerance

Jelena and Cleo published a study in Ecology and Evolution on ant thermal tolerance in urban parks. Contrary to our prediction, ants exposed to the urban heat island effect did not have a higher heat tolerance than peri-urban ants. Instead, cold tolerance varied across habitats, with ants from the cooler, peri-urban habitats being able to tolerate lower temperatures.  Check out the paper here.

We hosted the IUSSI conference!

We have organized the European conference of the International Union for the Study of Social Insects from July 7-11 at the University of Lausanne! The event was truely amazing, we hosted 280 social insect researchers from 17 countries, interested in all topics ranging from social evolution to global change impacts on social insects. We would like to thank again the IUSSI community of researchers for their participation, the proposition of exciting symposia, talks and posters and the creation of a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at the conference!
