This year in Vienna – Austria, the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) held its yearly conference from the 11th to the 14th of June where Sven Erik Ojavee was awarded the prestigious Lodewijk Sandkuijl award for an outstanding talk in complex disease genetics and statistical genetics.
Sven’s talk was titled Estimating age-specific genetic effects for age-at-onset phenotypes, where he aims to answer the question of whether a genetic risk behind age-at-onset can change across ages. He provides in his research an intuitive and scalable framework that enables the detection of genetic risk change that classical models cannot detect. Read more about his work here.
