Le cahier des charges, késako ?
ACIDUL organise un événement d’information sur le cahier des charges destiné aux doctorant-e-s et au corps intermédiaire. Nos invité-e-s expliqueront l’importance du cahier des charges, vous donneront des conseils, et répondront aux questions que vous vous poseriez sur votre cahier des charges. RDV le 12 mars de 17h00 à 18h30 dans la salle 2129 du bâtiment Géopolis.

Mobilisation pour la pétition : nous avons besoin de vous !
En octobre 2023, la Direction a répondu à notre pétition. Pour faire bouger les choses pour les centaines de doctorant-e-s concerné-e-s, ACIDUL et le SSP organisent une mobilisation de 92 personnes devant l’Unicentre le 19 mars de 12h00 à 12h30. Nous avons besoin de vous ! Information et inscription ici.

Résultats du sondage sur la création de postes à l’UNIL
Les résultats du sondage peuvent être consultés sur notre site. Ils seront prochainement discutés avec les associations facultaires du corps intermédiaire de l’UNIL et présentés à la Direction. Un très grand merci à toutes les personnes qui ont partagé leurs idées avec nous !

ACIDUL is organizing an information session about the cahier des charges, intended for PhD students and mid-level staff. Our guests will explain the importance of the cahier des charges, provide advice, and answer any questions you may have about your own cahier des charges. Join us on 12th March from 5 to 6:30pm in room 2129 of the Géopolis building. **Please note that presentations will be given in French but questions may be asked in English**

Mobilisation around our petition: we need you!
In October 2023, the rectorate responded to our petition. To make things move for the hundreds of PhD candidates who are affected, ACIDUL and the SSP are organising a mobilisation of 92 people in front of the Unicentre on 19th March from 12:00 to 12:30pm. We need your support! Information and enrollment here.

Survey results on the creation of positions at UNIL
The results of the survey can be viewed on our website. They will soon be discussed with the intermediary staff associations on the faculty level and presented to the rectorate. A huge thank you to everyone who shared their ideas with us!

Chères et chers collègues du corps intermédiaire,

Nous espérons que vous avez passé un bel été et que votre rentrée s’annonce bien. Voici quelques nouvelles d’ACIDUL :

Activités d’ACIDUL 2023-2024 

• pétition contre la précarité et les inégalités entre doctorant-e-s sous contrat UNIL : après plusieurs mois de campagne avec le Syndicat des services publics (SSP), la pétition a été remise en juin à la Direction et au Conseil d’État avec 1072 signatures ! Nous recevrons un retour de la Direction dans quelques semaines ; 
• négociations avec la Direction pour un soutien financier des doctorant-e-s au bénéfice d’une bourse. Bien qu’ACIDUL ait défendu la solution d’un contrat PAT qui garantirait à ces personnes un salaire proche de celui offert par le FNS, nous saluons la décision de la Direction de leur offrir une bourse complémentaire, qui leur garantit un revenu mensuel de 2500 francs. Un contrat PAT peut être signé à la place de la bourse complémentaire ; 
• parution de la nouvelle édition de la brochure d’information d’ACIDUL. On y trouve des informations sur l’association, mais aussi sur le fonctionnement de l’UNIL et les ressources à disposition ; 
• conférence sur les droits au chômage pour les chercheurs et chercheuses, en collaboration avec la Nouvelle’ADC et le SSP. L’événement sera reconduit en 2024. D’ici là, des informations peuvent être trouvées sur le sujet ici ; 
• quatre rencontres avec la Direction, au cours desquelles de nombreux sujets ont été abordés (indexation des salaires, doctorant-e-s sans contrat, suppression du Doc.CH, etc.) et une rencontre avec le Conseil d’État sur la question de la relève et de la précarité académique ; 
• soutien individuel : le secrétariat général a soutenu 50 personnes.  

Prochaine Assemblée générale d’ACIDUL 
La prochaine AG se tiendra le 17 octobre à 17h00 dans la salle 2207 de Géopolis. Un ordre du jour vous parviendra prochainement.

Dispositif AIDE l UNIL 
Le dispositif de lutte contre le harcèlement et les discriminations a ouvert ses portes au printemps 2023. Il soutient les victimes et témoins de harcèlement, de discrimination ou de violence sur le campus. 

Nouvelles du Graduate Campus 
L’édition 2023 du guide « Au-delà du doctorat », qui porte sur le développement de carrière pour les doctorant-e-s et postdoctorant-e-s, vient de paraître. Les informations sur les ateliers donnés par le Graduate Campus peuvent être trouvées ici.

Dear colleagues, 

We hope you had an enjoyable summer and that you have a good start to the academic year. Here is some news from ACIDUL: 

2023-2024 activities 

• petition against precarity and inequalities between PhD students on UNIL contracts: after several months of campaigning with the Public Services Union (SSP/VPOD), the petition was submitted in June to the rectorate and the Council of State with 1072 signatures! We should get feedback from the rectorate in the following weeks; 
• negotiations with the rectorate regarding financial support for PhD students on grants. Although ACIDUL defended the idea of PAT contracts, which would guarantee a salary close to that offered by the SNSF, we welcome the rectorate’s decision to offer all recipients an additional grant, which guarantees a monthly income of CHF 2,500. A PAT contract can also be signed instead of the additional grant;  
• publication of the new edition of ACIDUL’s information brochure, which contains information about the association, the functioning of UNIL and the available resources; 
• a conference on unemployment rights for researchers, in collaboration with the Nouvelle’ADC and the SSP/VPOD. This event will take place again in 2024. Until then, information on this topic is available here; 
• four meetings with the rectorate, during which a number of topics were discussed (indexation of salaries, PhD students without a UNIL contract, discontinuation of Doc.CH, etc.) and a meeting with the Council of State on the issue of the next generation of researchers (relève) and academic precarity; 
• individual support: the General Secretary supported 50 people this year. 

ACIDUL’s next General Assembly 
The next General Assembly will take place on 17th October at 5pm in room 2207 of the Geopolis building. The agenda will follow soon.

HELP l UNIL 
The anti-harassment and anti-discrimination unit opened its doors in spring 2023. It supports victims and witnesses of harassment, discrimination or violence on campus.  

News from the Graduate Campus 
The 2023 edition of the brochure « Beyond the doctorate », which gives information on career development for PhD students and postdocs, has just been published. Information about the workshops offered by the Graduate Campus can be found here.

Pétition pour les doctorant·e·s à l’UNIL
En collaboration avec le Syndicat des services publics, ACIDUL vient de lancer une campagne pour réduire la précarité des doctorant·e·s et lutter contre les inégalités de statut. Afin d’améliorer les conditions de travail et de recherche en doctorat, nous vous encourageons à signer notre pétition et à la partager, que vous soyez ou non doctorant·e ! Toutes les infos se trouvent sur le site d’ACIDUL. La pétition peut être signée en ligne. Un grand merci d’avance pour votre soutien !

Formulaire de signalement 
A la suite de la proposition d’un de ses membres, ACIDUL a mis sur pied un formulaire en ligne qui permet de signaler, en toute confidentialité, des problèmes liés au contrat de travail, par exemple, ou des comportements inadéquats de l’entourage professionnel. Une liste d’autres ressources disponibles à l’UNIL figure également sur cette page.

Indexation des salaires
Début décembre, ACIDUL a écrit au Conseil d’Etat (CE) pour demander l’indexation des salaires à l’indice des prix à la consommation (+3%) pour les assistant·e·s diplômé·e·s et le corps intermédiaire. A ce jour, nous n’avons pas reçu de réponse.

Le Conseil d’Etat a décidé d’indexer les salaires des personnes sous contrat de droit public à 1,4%, un chiffre dérisoire compte tenu de l’inflation. Après une première grève du secteur public le 13 décembre, une deuxième journée de grève a eu lieu le 23 janvier, avec 1500 grévistes et 4000 manifestant·e·s le soir. Le mouvement continue puisqu’une nouvelle journée de grève est prévue mardi 31 janvier. A l’UNIL, une Assemblée générale du personnel se tiendra ce jour-là à 12h00, dans la salle 2064 de l’Anthropole. Il s’agira de présenter l’état de la négociation avec le CE, de voter une résolution à adresser au CE, et d’organiser les modalités de participation à cette journée (éventuelle déclaration de grève et participation à une manifestation en fin d’après-midi). ACIDUL vous encourage vivement à y participer, pour vous et vos collègues !

Suppression du Doc.CH
ACIDUL a appris que le FNS mettra fin au programme de financement de thèse Doc.CH dès 2025. En décembre, avec le soutien de PhDnet, de l’ACIL, de l’ACISSP et de l’ACIGE, ACIDUL a contesté cette décision dans une lettre adressée au FNS, au Secrétariat d’Etat à la formation, à la recherche et à l’innovation et à Swissuniversities notamment. D’autres associations du corps intermédiaire des universités suisses ont envoyé une lettre similaire, tout comme la faîtière Actionuni.

Nous ne manquerons pas de vous tenir informé·e·s de la réponse du FNS.

Postes vacants dans les commissions consultatives de la Direction
Il reste des places dans les commissions suivantes :

• commission de la relève (1 poste pour la Faculté de théologie et de sciences des religions + 1 poste pour HEC)
• commission qualité et valorisation (1 poste)
• commission des sports universitaires (2 postes)

Les instances de représentation du corps intermédiaire ont toujours besoin de vous ! Vous impliquer dans la vie universitaire vous permet d’être mieux informé·e des subtilités de l’institution et de porter la voix de plusieurs milliers de personnes afin que l’UNIL puisse continuer de s’améliorer. Petition for PhD students at UNIL
In collaboration with the Public Services Union, ACIDUL has launched a campaign to reduce the precarity of PhD students and combat inequalities of status. To improve working and research conditions during the PhD, we encourage you to sign our petition and share it with your academic network, whether you are a PhD student or not. All information can be found on ACIDUL’s website and the petition can be signed online. Thanks in advance for your support!

Reporting form on ACIDUL’s website
Following the suggestion of one of its members, ACIDUL has set up an online form that allows you to report, in complete confidentiality, problems related to your employment contract for instance or inappropriate behavior in your workplace. A list of other services that can be of help at UNIL is also provided on this page.

Salary indexation
At the beginning of December, ACIDUL wrote to the State Council (Conseil d’Etat) to ask for the indexation of salaries (+3%) for graduate assistants and mid-level academic staff. To date, we are still waiting for a reply.

The State Council has decided to index the salaries of employees on public law contracts at 1.4%, which is far from what is needed given the inflation rate. For this reason, the public sector went on strike on 13th December and 23rd January. On Monday, there were 1500 strikers and 4000 demonstrators during the march in the evening. The movement for a proper indexation continues as another strike is planned on 31st January. At UNIL, a General Assembly will take place that day at 12pm in room 2064 of the Anthropole building. Details of the state of negotiations with the State Council will be provided, a vote will take place regarding a resolution to send to the State Council, and the modalities of a potential strike action and march that day will be discussed. ACIDUL strongly encourages you to attend the GA, for your sake and for your colleagues!

Discontinuation of Doc.CH
ACIDUL learned that the SNSF has decided to put an end to the PhD funding program Doc.CH in 2025. With the support of PhDnet, ACIL, ACISSP and ACIGE, ACIDUL denounced the end of this program in December via a letter addressed to the SNSF, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation and Swissuniversities, among other organisations. Other mid-level staff associations in Switzerland sent a similar letter, as did Actionuni.

We will keep you informed of the SNSF’s response.

The bodies that represent mid-level staff always need you! Getting involved in university life allows you to be better informed about the subtleties of the institution and to make the voice of several thousand people heard so that UNIL can continue to improve. Remplacement du secrétaire général de l’ACIDUL
Comme précisé lors de la dernière Newsletter, le poste de secrétaire général a été mis au concours à la fin du printemps 2021. Après des années de bons et loyaux services, Maximilien Stauber a quitté son poste le 31 août. Kelly Harrison le remplace depuis le 1er septembre.

Replacement of the General secretary of ACIDUL
As mentioned in our previous Newsletter, the position of General secretary of ACIDUL was advertised at the end of spring 2021. After giving many years of loyal service, Maximilien Stauber left his position on 31st August and has since been replaced by Kelly Harrison.

Financial insecurity also affects doctoral students. The present health crisis has accentuated the phenomenon. Fonds de solidarité des doctorant-e-s

La précarité financière touche aussi les doctorant-e-s. Afin de contribuer à la lutte contre ce phénomène, ACIDUL a voté lors de sa dernière AG la création d’un Fonds de Solidarité, dédié à combler les manques ponctuels.

Solidarity Fund for Doctoral Students

Financial insecurity also affects doctoral students. During its last General Assembly, ACIDUL voted on the creation of a Solidarity Fund in order to contribute to the combat against this phenomenon. This Fund will be dedicated to providing assistance during times of temporary need

On March 8th 2020, the collectif UNIL/EPFL vers la grève – and the movement in general – will rally to demand the implementation of the manifest ratified last year. Grève du 14 juin

Parce que les hautes écoles sont des lieux de vie comme les autres et que les discriminations notamment liées au sexe et au genre sont courantes au sein du corps intermédiaire, ACIDUL appelle à soutenir la mobilisation du 14 juin prochain pour une grève féministe.

A cette fin, le collectif UNIL/EPFL pour la grève des femmes*/féministe dont ACIDUL est partie invite tous les membres des Universités (UNIL et EPFL) à participer à la journée de mobilisation du 14 juin et aux différents événements qui auront lieu sur le campus.

Nomination – Actionuni

Un membre de notre comité, Alexey Evstratov, a été élu au comité d’Actionuni, l’association nationale du corps intermédiaire suisse, lors de la dernière AG de cette organisation.

Women’s strike

Because advanced study institutions are living spaces like the others and discriminations based on sex or gender are still common within the academy, ACIDUL support the feminist strike and call to participate on the 14th June.

In this regard, the UNIL/EPFL collective for the women’s*/feminist strike to which ACIDUL is a party invites all members of the university to take part in the various events that will be held on campus.
