Sven comes from Estonia where he did his MSc in Mathematical Statistics in the University of Tartu with Krista Fischer on describing the ancestry of Estonians. He has also spent a semester in Belgium studying statistics in the University of Hasselt, and he has worked in biostatistics of clinical trials and real-world evidence studies. Previously he has been working on time-series models and optimisation problems for making real-time decisions and predictions.
He is currently focusing on Bayesian time-to-event and survival analysis to develop models that enable deeper insight into the genetic architecture of such traits. That includes full utilisation of censored or truncated information, partitioning genetic variance between mixture components and estimating whether the genetic effects remain constant throughout life.
