The European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG) held its yearly conference on the 28-31 August 2021 virtually across the world. Chiara Auwerx received the Young Investigator Award for the best talk in complex disease genetics and statistical genetics (Lodewijk Sandkuijl Award). Her talk, titled The impact of copy number variants on complex human traits, highlighted how CNVs play an important role in shaping complex traits in healthy populations and how their study can reveal new gene functionalities.
