5th International Symposium on Mega Earthquake Induced Geo-disasters and Long-term effects – MEGE 11-16 May 2018

Prof. Jaboyedoff was invited to give an invited talk in Chengdu MEGE 11-16 May 2018 at the State Key Laboratory of Geohazards Prevention and Geoenvironmental Protection (SKLGP). “The 5th International Symposium on Mega Earthquake Induced Geo-disasters and Long-term effects is an interdisciplinary international conference that invites academics, independent scholars and researchers from around the world to meet and exchange the latest ideas and discuss issues concerning large landslides and the related topics. This conference is also the 10th anniversary of the 2008 Wenchuan Mega Earthquake.”.

It was a meeting where numerous world landslides specialists met. The conference as well as the field trip were very interesting. In addition, it was the opportunity to meet for the first time our future PhD student Li Fei, who kindly guide me at my arrival.

Program

The talk given by M. Jaboyedoff was: “How to Assess Large Landslide Hazard and the Importance of their Indirect Induced Hazard” it introduced the issue linked to events like Bondo Rockslide-rock avalanche-debris-flow.
