After a bachelor in Forest Sciences at HAFL Bern with specialisation in protective forests and a one year internship at the cantons of Fribourg and Grisons, I decided to undertake the master in Natural Hazards and Risk at UNIL, being fascinated by these topics. Having some basic knowledge of electronics and application development, I decided to develop a low-cost Arduino-based terrestrial lidar scanner as the subject of my master thesis.
