A few days ago we received a phone call from the New York Times graphics editor Derek Watkins who was preparing an article on a team of two American rock-climbers on El Capitan (Yosemite Valley, California). He asked for a 3D model of the cliff and so we shared with him the Terrestrial LiDAR point cloud that we acquired one year ago to study rockfall susceptibility. We gave him as well the mesh textured with the GigaPan photograph that displays very well the impressively steep morphology of the SE face of El Capitan.
