Short Bio

Cristina was born in Soria, Spain, in 1996. She studied Biomedical Engineering at Carlos III University (Spain) where she received her Bachelor’s degree in 2018. She specialized in medical imaging and did her bacherlor’s thesis at Gregorio Maranon Hospital, developing an endogenous contrast for blood perfusion in MIR.

Her interest in MRI led her to do her master’s degree at ETH Zurich, taking several courses involving MRI physics, image and signal processing, and computer vision. In addition to these courses, she did a research project in the Computer Vision Lab, investigating deep learning techniques in MR reconstruction. She completed her master’s thesis in MRI, investigating a method inspired in superresolution microscopy intended to improve the resolution of echo planar images. After finishing her master’s degree, she did an internship at Siemens Healthineers Lausanne, working in motion correction for MRI.

Since October 2020, Cristina is pursuing her PhD thesis focusing on studying novel approaches for human brain monitoring with electroencephalography and magnetic resonance imaging. The thesis is under the supervision of Dr. Joao Jorge and Dr. Meritxell Bach Cuadra, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (Ambizione grant), and hosted by the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM) and the University of Lausanne (UNIL).
