Biography
After getting his PhD in applied Mathematics at EPFL in 2010, Guillaume Jouvet joined successively the Free University of Berlin until 2014 as a postdoc, the ETH Zurich until 2019, and the University of Zurich until now as senior scientist. His main research topic is the modelling of glacial flow motion with applications to the evolution of present-day glaciers as well as the paleo reconstruction of the alpine ice field. He is currently working at using deep-learning in order to emulate computationally-efficient ice flow models. Beside this, he has been involved in several field campaigns in Greenland to collect data with drones to better understand iceberg calving mechanisms at the terminus of marine-terminating glaciers.
