About us

The Medical Image Analysis Laboratory (MIAL) is headed by Meritxell Bach Cuadra, PhD, MER, PD. MIAL was born in 2011 and it is a research group jointly between the University of Lausanne and the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (Radiology Department), two of the founding partners of the CIBM Center for Biomedical Imaging.

We believe that an appropriate use of medical imaging requires a multidisciplinary approach. Thus, we develop advanced methods for medical image processing in close collaborations with medical doctors and industrial partners. We have several application-oriented projects in the fields of Radiology, Neurology, Neuro-surgery, Oncology and Psychiatry.
