We are pleased to share that Isna Bustoni, a PhD student at the Persuasive Technology Lab, has received a Gary Marsden Travel Award to present her paper at MobileHCI 2026 in Swansea, United Kingdom.
The paper, BezelBraille: An Eyes-Free Mobile Text Entry Method for Blind and Low-Vision Users, is a collaboration with the Inclusive Interaction Lab at the University of California, Merced. BezelBraille is a new mobile text-entry method that enables blind and low-vision users to enter text without looking at the screen. By using thumb gestures and the phone’s bottom corners as tactile landmarks, the system provides a flexible, orientation-independent, and error-tolerant way to interact with smartphones.
Although this project is separate from Isna’s main PhD research on Human-AI collaboration, it reflects her broader interest in designing accessible and inclusive interactive technologies.
Congratulations to Isna on this achievement, and we wish her a successful presentation at MobileHCI 2026!
