Peri-alpine lakes vulnerability to climate change

 Motivation

We are interested in quantifying lakes ecological vulnerability to climate warming.

Basically we question whether lake ecology is more affected by climate change depending on their exposure (The warmer they get, the stronger shall be the climate-driven ecological changes) or depending on how they have been already locally affected by human activities (lakes already under strong local human pressure will be m ore sensitive to ecological effects of climate warming).

We rely on paleo-ecological methods covering the last millenium or the last century using high-resolution dating methods, which coupled to monitoring data through statistical modeling, help us identifying and quantifying how much of the ecological and biogeochemical changes in alpine lakes within the latest decades are imputed to climate warming.
