Ivan Pascal

Ivan was a postdoctoral researcher in 2023.

He investigates hydraulic and sedimentary processes in alpine streams and is interested in their interplay with vegetation and cryosphere. His background is in environmental engineering. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy) in 2015, and he holds a Ph.D. in mechanics from EPFL. There he studied hydraulics and bedload transport in steep streams by performing small-scale flume experiments during his thesis and by conducting field monitoring campaigns as a postdoctoral researcher.

He focused on identifying sources of instream wood and sediment supply in proglacial river corridors and on quantifying their inputs and regimes by combining retro-analyses of available archived data, field surveys and remote sensing methods. He worked on the Upper Navisence catchment (Val d’Anniviers, VS) in the framework of the NaviSedWood EPFL-UNIL CLIMACT project.
