New publication: plant sphingolipids mediate responses to insect eggs

We discovered that Pieris brassicae insect eggs trigger the expression of sphingolipid metabolism genes in Arabidopsis. Sphingolipid quantifications showed that Cer with C16:0 side chains accumulate in response to egg extract treatment and modulate the egg-induced hypersensitive-like response.
