My work for The Language of the Labouring Poor in Late Modern England is centered around creating the pauper petition corpus. Currently I am, like most of the other team members, focusing on transcribing the letters as accurately as possible and then comparing my transcriptions with existing ones. I enjoy reading these letters not only from an academic perspective, but also a human one, as these letters offer a unique way to engage with the everyday problems of everyday people from hundreds of years in the past!

I am currently an MA student of English and Computer Science for the Humanities at UNIL. I have just successfully completed my BA in the same subjects at UNIL. This project allows me to work on the intersection of my two main interests: the 18th and 19th centuries in England, as well as the use of machine-based tools to analyse textual corpora.
