Congress SSRE

12-13 September 2022

Call for Papers

The SSRE (Swiss Society for Research in Education), the AECSE (Association of Teachers and Researchers in Educational Sciences), and ABC-Educ (Belgian French-speaking Collaborative Association for Educational Research) as well as OBSEF (Education & Training Observatory) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lausanne, are joining forces to organise the International Week of Education and Training which will take place at the University of Lausanne from 12 to 16 September 2022.

This international week will articulate several events taking place in an overlapping fashion:

  • The Annual Congress of the Swiss Society for Research in Education (12 and 13 September);
  • The International Congress on Current Research Developments in Education and Training (AREF) (13, 14 and 15 September);
  • The biennial midterm conference of the ESA (European Sociological Association) network of sociology of education (ESA RN10), 15-16 September.

Current developments in education and training are the focus of this International Education and Training Week and should guide the presenters’ proposals.

Three themes as a guideline

The SSRE 2022 Congress intends to contribute to this moment of assessment, exchange and prospective around knowledge aimed at addressing education and training issues. Three issues currently appear to be particularly salient: 1) the digital turn in education and training, 2) the development of an inclusive approach in education/training including at the institutional level and 3) well-being in education and training. They are intended to provide common threads throughout this annual congress. The health crisis has shown that these aspects are both essential and sensitive for both professionals and users in education and training, at all levels. These three focal points will be discussed in conferences and round tables during the congress. In Switzerland, the prerogative of the different cantons in matters of education and training shape these issues in a particular way and participants are invited to pay specific attention to them.

The overlap of these three conferences – SSRE, AREF and ESA RN10 – at the University of Lausanne will allow researchers who wish to stay for the entire week to enjoy the full range of exchanges in this friendly and welcoming environment overlooking Lake Geneva. Bringing together and fostering dialogue between professionals and researchers from different scientific associations, languages and disciplinary traditions is our dearest wish insofar as education and training are major issues for tomorrow’s societies.
