Stanislas Rapacchi is a research scientist (chargé de recherche) at the Department of Radiology of the University of Lausanne (UNIL) and Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), in Switzerland. His research focuses on innovations in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging – MRI – using fast acquisition techniques.

Dr Rapacchi is passionate about MRI and has been involved in a wide range of developments and applications with a continued target on cardiovascular imaging challenges.

His research in physics and engineering of cardiovascular MRI was launched with his PhD between Lyon and Washington, which shaped his positioning at the interface between applications to radiological sciences and deeply technical developments. He then pursued his passion for cardiovascular MRI, and MR-angiography, in Los Angeles, honing his skills in fast MRI and thriving in teamwork. He returned in France in Marseille, securing a tenured position as a CNRS research associate (‘Chargé de recherche’) in 2016. He participated in multiple research projects and developed national and international collaborations while steadily building his own research project in developing new contrasts for cardiovascular MRI.

Following his motivation, he has joined the CHUV-CVMR team to pursue the development and clinical translation of fast cardiovascular MRI techniques, notably to novel low-field MRI platforms, to imaging cardio-metabolic diseases and the exploration of the cardiovascular response to exercise-stress using MRI.

Stanislas also serves as a board member of the French NMR Society (GERM) and as the secretary of the French MRI society (SFRMBM).
