Paolo Garelli joined the CHUV–UNIL Translational Magnetic Resonance Research Center in June 2025 as a PhD candidate. He works under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Roy and Dr. Tobias Rutz from the Heart and Vessel Department at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV).

He earned his Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, completing his studies with a thesis at Siemens Healthineers AG in Lausanne with the title “Self-Supervised Deep Learning Denoising of GRAPPATINI T2 Maps in Magnetic Resonance Imaging”, where he developed his interest in quantitative MRI. During his Master’s program in Italy, he was also part of the XIX cycle of the Alta Scuola Politecnica.

His current research focuses on 5D Flow MRI for the non-invasive assessment of congenital heart disease.

Outside of research, Paolo enjoys football, running, reading, and drawing.
