New article by Sandrine Baume on Carl Schmitt’s critique of political compromises

“Carl Schmitt’s Multifaceted Rejection of Political Compromises,” a new article by Sandrine Baume, is now published in The Review of Politics. Baume’s paper offers a structured analysis of Schmitt’s opposition to political compromises, building upon her previous work with Yannis Papadopoulos, which established a comprehensive typology of such objections. The article also delves into Schmitt’s strong aversion to pluralism and compromises, and critically examines the parallels and distinctions between his democratic theory and populist views.
