Lipids capture the essence of our chemical individuality

Our latest work on Lausanne population is now online – the lipids that set us apart. Lipids reflect our chemical individuality far beyond the transcriptome, proteome and even polar metabolome! Within-subject variations, at timescale of ten years (!), are dwarfed by between-subject variations. Beyond high level of individuality, our circulatory lipid signatures are also sex-specific. More than 50% of measured lipid species (> 450) display significant sex differences, which are also age dependent.
