Travelling to/within Lausanne

Lausanne is a picturesque Swiss city located on the shores of Lake Geneva, and is easily accessible through by train, plane and road connections. You can find detailed travel information here.

By Train

Lausanne is well connected to the rest of Europe by rail and there are direct connections from Paris and Milan that takes less than 4 hours. The main station is Lausanne Gare, but the city is also served by Renens Gare, which is closer to the University.

By Plane

The nearest airport is in Geneva (less than an hour away by train). You can also fly to the Zurich airport which is directly connected to Lausanne by train (travel time is around 2.5 hours).

Within Lausanne

Lausanne has an excellent public transport system and the university is connected by metro and bus to the city center. Note that staying in a hotel, hostel or at a campsite in Lausanne normally entitles you to a Lausanne Transport Card which allows you to use public transport for free and offers other benefits.
