About

Despite remarkable educational gains, migrant women remain segregated in low-wage, precarious occupations and face persistent penalties in pay and career advancement. Based at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) at the Institute of Social Sciences and the LIVES Centre, PROFEM develops a comprehensive intersectional framework to analyse the mechanisms and driving forces of gender- and migration-based stratification processes across European countries and over time. Combining large-scale secondary data analyses, targeted employer interviews, survey experiments, and dynamic micro-simulations, PROFEM aims to enhance the scientific knowledge regarding segregation processes and to provide evidence-based insights for policymakers, employers, and civil society, supporting efforts to reduce labour market inequalities of migrant women.
