Three new frontier AI models have just been announced, each aiming to become the go-to assistant.
GPT-5.1 (OpenAI)

OpenAI is launching GPT-5.1 in two versions, Instant and Thinking. The model is more warm and conversational, better at following instructions, and now adapts its “thinking time” to the difficulty of the request. ChatGPT also gains finer tone controls (Professional, Friendly, Direct, Quirky, etc.), which apply across all conversations.
Grok 4.1 (xAI)

Grok 4.1 focuses on “vibe”: creative, emotional and collaborative interactions, with a more coherent and empathetic personality. On style and human-preference benchmarks, Grok 4.1 ranks at the top, while significantly reducing factual hallucinations thanks to extensive post-training.
Gemini 3 (Google)

At Google, Gemini 3 is presented as the most intelligent model in the lineup, with very strong multimodal reasoning (text, image, video, code) and new “agentic” capabilities to help users learn, code and plan complex tasks. It ships directly into Search (AI Mode), the Gemini app, developer tools (Vertex AI, AI Studio) and the new agent platform Google Antigravity.
In short, all three players are betting on the same promise: more reasoning, fewer errors… and AI that adapts much better to how we actually speak.
