MA Seminar in Modern History: Agrarian Republics and the Spectre of the Revolution

During the autumn semester of 2017/2018 academic year Master students at the University of Lausanne followed a research seminar closely related to the FNS project whose principal subjects were the two agrarian republics, Berne and Poland. The seminar, which discussed the prosopographic network constituted between the two republics in the late eighteenth century, the reform movements and projects of reform and the wider implications of the Swiss and the Polish cases for the history of political thought, was an opportunity for the research team to present preliminary results and for the students to engage with new and exciting material.
