I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Systems, Faculty of Business and Economics (HEC) at the University of Lausanne. I am also Group Head of Applied AI Lab. At ETH Zurich, I am Academic Director of Strategy and AI Laboratory ( SAIL ).

My research program aims to identify solutions and frameworks for dealing with organizational and technical hurdles that business organizations face when adopting AI-based systems.

I have obtained Doctor of Sciences (Dr. sc. ETH Zurich) degree from ETH Zurich and master’s degree in Computer Science from Saarland University (Germany). Before joining University of Lausanne, I was Senior Researcher (Oberassistent) at ETH Zurich. Prior to starting my PhD, from 2010-2014, I held a position as research associate at the Cluster of Excellence (MMCI, Germany), which comprises of Saarland University, the Max Planck Institute of Informatics (MPII, Germany), the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI, Germany), and the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems (MPI-SWS). There, my research was focussed on Computational Social Choice and Theoretical Computer Science. I have also worked as research engineer at Samsung R&D.

My research has been published in leading outlets in both management and computer science, including Nature Machine Intelligence, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, California Management Review, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Organization Design, Nature Reviews BioEngineering, EMNLP, IJCAI, ECAI, KDD, Theoretical Computer Science and Lecture Notes in Computer Science. My research and education has been supported through scholarships and research grants from several institutions including the Swiss National Science Foundation ( SNSF ), Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), the Enterprise 4 Society Center (E4S), Competence Center for Rehabilitation Engineering and Science @ ETH Zurich ( RESC ), Enterpreneurship and Innovation HUB (UCreate), Innosuisse , the Government of India ( EdCIL ) and the German Research Foundation ( DFG ).
