Featured in the ICT Journal: Using NFTs to Allocate Tasks and Reward Contributions in Organizations

The article discusses the innovative use of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in organizational settings, proposed by Prof. Yash Raj Shrestha and Dr. Patrick Tinguely.

NFTs, known for their unique digital asset qualities on blockchain technology, are suggested as tools for allocating tasks and rewarding contributors within organizations. This approach is inspired by decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) and aims to promote fairness and equality in traditional organizational structures. While NFTs are currently popular in marketing and supply chain management, their potential in organizational design remains largely untapped.

The authors highlight NFTs’ capabilities in representativeness, collectibility, and exchangeability, which could facilitate more efficient task distribution and reward systems in workplaces. The article encourages continued exploration of decentralized governance principles to enhance democratic processes and equity in organizations.
