Winter School for young researchers taking place from January 29th – February 3rd, 2023

Goal

Give young researchers the opportunity to present their findings in a friendly environment, to meet and speak to researchers in other disciplines working on similar topics and to receive feedback from a few well-known experts in their field about the relevance of their work both in academia and practice.

Targeted audience

Young researchers (PhD students and researchers, academics, practitioners within 5 years of PhD graduation) across disciplines, such as actuarial science, demography, insurance, mathematics, statistics, epidemiology, biology and economics.

Structure

The structure of the Winter School will consist in opening experts presentations (45 min), contributed talks (20 to 30 min) by participating young researchers, followed by pannel discussions.

Spearheaded by the University of Lausanne (Switzerland), University of Liverpool (United Kingdom), and York University (Canada), the Consortium of Excellence for the 17 Goals (C-17) will serve as the premier hub for Academia, Industry, and Governments from all over the world to promote and achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Drawing its strength from Actuarial Science and related Disciplines, the Consortium will become an international driver of paradigm-shifting and transformative research as well as of research-infused innovative learning, all to facilitate the UN’s 2030 Agenda for a better world.

Registration fee

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, the registration (& hotel) fee is set at only CHF 400 (400 Euro) per participant. The fee includes:

1. Accommodation from Sunday January 29th to Friday February 3rd, 2023 (5 nights)
2. Breakfast from Monday to Friday
3. Lunch from Monday to Friday
4. Dinner from Sunday to Thursday
5. Excursion on Wednesday afternoon
