Beyond Aspirations

The Laboratory of Regenerative Hematopoiesis employs a comprehensive strategy, merging cell biology, bioengineering, and translational hematology approaches to gain deeper insights into the bone marrow microenvironment and how it can be modulated to enhance blood cell progenitor function in the context of aging and bone marrow failure. Our main research axis involves (i) the role of bone marrow stromal components, and in particular adipocyte remodeling, in hematopoietic progenitor expansion, (ii) the bioengineering of synthetic, injectable hematopoietic niches with a particular focus on platelet production and (iii) the characterization of human bone marrow stromal cells as biomarkers of hematological disease.
