Requirements
1. Consistency of Starting Material
The amount of starting material should be consistent across all groups and samples. For biofluids, this means providing the same volume for each sample, depending on the analysis type.
If you are submitting tissue or cell samples, you must provide approximately the same quantity of starting material – either tissue weight or cell number – across all groups and samples. Please note that we cannot crush or re-weigh tissue powder on your behalf. Large differences (>2-fold) in starting material, or inaccurately measured tissue weights, can introduce significant bias (e.g., matrix effects) and/or compromise result normalization (e.g., concentration relative to tissue weight).
2. Required Tube Type for Tissue or Cell Samples
Tissue powder must be submitted in lysis tubes compatible with our tissue homogenizer.
Required product:
Lysis tubes Sarstedt – screw-cap micro tube, 2 mL
If samples are provided in other tube types, material loss during transfer may occur.
3. Minimum Number of Samples and Biological Replicates
We cannot accept fewer than 12 samples of the same type. Otherwise, we would end up analyzing more calibrators and quality controls than actual samples—without considering the time required for instrument setup. We offer more than 20 types of analysis in our catalogue.
Please plan for 5–6 independent biological replicates per group, as metabolomic profiles represent molecular phenotypes and are inherently variable.
4. Project Submission
Once the experimental design planning is complete and the samples are ready, please submit your project via our MetaboApp
Provide as much information as possible about your project and samples. Accurate and comprehensive metadata allows us to support you in the best possible way.
As soon as you receive our feedback regarding the acceptance of your project, you may ship or bring your samples to our lab on dry ice.
Many thanks for your effort and consideration!
