The lab will be closing at the end of 2025 due to the retirement of the PI Christoph Keel, following a research career spanning more than 40 years in agronomy, phytopathology, and microbiology.

As a consequence, we regret that we will no longer be able to consider applications to the lab or fulfill requests for microbial strains and other materials.

Our lab investigates plant-beneficial pseudomonads that live in close association with roots. The bacteria protect crop plants from pathogenic fungi and some are virulent towards pest insects. We try to identify molecular traits required for plant-beneficial and insect-pathogenic activities and mechanisms controlling their expression in response to the respective host.  Read more …
