The first UNIL scientific café dedicated to artificial intelligence will take place on 23 February 2026, from 5:15 pm to 7:00 pm, at Geopolis (room 2207). Drawing on the recent rise of conversational AI systems such as ChatGPT, the event will explore the pivotal nature of this technological moment and examine its far-reaching implications for work, knowledge production, and power relations. Moving beyond a narrow focus on biases or errors in AI systems, the discussion will address the structural effects of their large-scale deployment and what they reveal about our contemporary relationship to technology.
