Supported by an interdisciplinary grant from the Faculty of Biology and Medicine, the project From Genomics to Clinical brings together two artificial intelligence specialists, Nicolas Salamin (UNIL) and Jean-Louis Raisaro (CHUV), around a shared objective: improving the analysis and interpretation of biomedical data. By combining AI models for genomics, efficient compression of large-scale datasets, and automated querying of the medical literature using large language models, the project aims to bridge the gap between genetic variants and clinical phenotypes. Beyond methodological innovation, this collaboration illustrates the unifying role of AI in bringing together fundamental and clinical sciences, while also serving as a testbed for new infrastructures enabling secure data sharing between UNIL and the CHUV.
