  • BSc, Physics, University of Heidelberg, Germany, 2021
  • MSc, Environmental Physics, University of Bremen, Germany, 2025

Jonathan began his PhD in August 2025 as part of the DRAGON project. He is working on the application of 3D and 4D drone-based GPR to investigate englacial and subglacial hydrological systems.

Jonathan grew up in Heidelberg, Germany, and finished his Bachelor degree in Physics at the University of Heidelberg. His Master studies in Environmental Physics at the University of Bremen took him far north to study the polar cryosphere. At the University Center in Svalbard, he focused on the dynamics of surging glaciers. Jonathan has conducted extensive geophysical fieldwork in Svalbard, the central Arctic, and the Alps. Outside his research, he has worked as an Arctic guide and is a passionate mountaineer.
