Johanna Klahold successfully defends her PhD thesis

On Thursday at 3pm, Johanna Klahold successfully publicly defended her PhD thesis, entitled “High-resolution imaging of englacial and subglacial hydrology with 3D and 4D ground-penetrating radar”. Johanna gave a truly outstanding presentation to a large audience of colleagues, friends, and family. With clear explanations and striking visuals, including numerous videos and animations, she made complex glacier-geophysics concepts accessible to a broad audience.

Johanna’s thesis involved multiple demanding field campaigns on the Otemma Glacier and the analysis of a very large volume of data. Using high-resolution 3D and 4D GPR, she successfully imaged and monitored the evolution of the near-terminus englacial and subglacial drainage system throughout the melt season and between years.

Congratulations, Dr. Klahold!
