Research Assistant (20%) Wanted

We are looking for a Research Assistant with computer science knowledge and skill. Yuanjun (yuanjun.feng@unil.ch) is looking forward to your application!


Are you passionate about AI research? Do you excel in implementing and experimenting with advanced AI models? Can you work independently as well as part of a team in a highly dynamic environment? Are you available for at least two semesters?

We are seeking highly motivated students to gain hands-on research experience in AI-related projects at the Chair of AI and Data Science, HEC Lausanne, working closely with Stanford University.

About this position
  • Workload: part-time, 20% weekly commitment
  • Duration: At least two semesters
  • Compensation: Based on UNIL’s standard salary rates
  • Responsibilities: Assist in the research projects and teaching

  • Varied tasks such as assisting in research projects, developing AI models, performing data analyses and teaching.
Your Profile:
  • Education: A degree or current studies in computer science or related disciplines and enrollment in a master’s or bachelor’s program at EPFL or UNIL
  • Language Skills: Proficient in English
  • Technical Skills:
    • Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
    • Proficient in working with Linux servers.
    • Knowledge of deep learning models such as CNN, LSTM, ResNet, and LLM.
    • Familiarity with PyTorch Lightning or Hugging Face libraries.
    • Understanding of model training, evaluation methods, and metrics.
  • Desirable Skills:
    • Experience with large datasets and models like BERT.
    • Skills in fine-tuning models.
    • Experience developing graph neural networks and knowledge bases.
    • Capability in end-to-end training of large models in language processing, computer vision, graph analysis, or recommendation systems.
