Sarah Waheed is Assistant Professor of History at University of South Carolina where she teaches courses in South Asian history and history of the Indian Ocean world. Her scholarly expertise is on the history of South Asian Islam and the shaping of modern Muslim communities. Her first book, Hidden Histories of Pakistan: Censorship Literature and Secular Nationalism in Late Colonial India, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2022. She has also published articles in Modern Asian Studies, Asian Affairs, HimalSouthAsia, and Postcolonial Text. She is currently writing a book about the life and world of Chand Bibi, the sixteenth century Muslim warrior queen of the Deccan.
