Dr Justine Shanti Alexander, external scientific collaborator in the Christe Group, published the 2 following papers:
Large carnivore encounters through the lens of mobile videos on social media.
shows that studying social media videos can provide valuable insights into human-carnivore interactions on the Tibetan Plateau in China. Over half of the encounters with snow leopards, gray wolves, and brown bears were neutral, and negative encounters were associated with the target species, distance, human influence, and other animals. The paper highlights that conservationists should engage local people in conservation knowledge production using participatory programs.

Applying a gender lens to biodiversity conservation in High Asia
This paper published in Frontiers in Conservation Science (DOI 10.3389/fcosc.2023.1006052) discusses the need for gender-responsive approaches in community-based conservation efforts to address existing gender inequalities. We present case studies from Mongolia and India on women's roles in snow leopard conservation and argue that community support for conservation actions can be enhanced by leveraging women's potential contributions. The study highlights the importance of context-specific solutions to address gender-based disparities in conservation efforts.

Philippe Christe takes the opportunity of his scientific leave to share with the Swiss medical community, in the context of an approach based on the One Health concept, some thoughts on the potential links between the loss of biodiversity and emerging diseases. The paper published in french in «La Revue médicale suisse» is entitled: Perte de la biodiversité : aller simple vers de nouveaux pathogènes émergents ? DOI:10.53738/REVMED.2023.19.825.842
