Spatial multiOmix Histology Facility

Embracing a new integrated histology and multi-omics facility at FBM!

The FBM Histology Facility (HF) is undergoing a major structural transformation through the integration of multi-omics expertise from the CHUV’s Immune Landscape Laboratory (ILL). This evolution marks the creation of a new integrated facility – the Spatial multiOmix Histology Facility (SOxHiF) – positioned as a leading reference in spatial and multi-omics technologies at the heart of FBM’s Core Research Facilities offering.

This initiative builds on the complementary expertise of the two existing facilities and significantly expands the range of services available to the entire Unil–CHUV community, particularly in the fields of spatial transcriptomics, spatial proteomics, and advanced multi-omics approaches.

SOxHiF thus offers a comprehensive analytical continuum, ranging from sample preparation to high-resolution spatial molecular characterization, addressing the growing needs of basic, translational, and clinical research.

The integration of the COMET system (Lunaphore), dedicated to multiplex spatial analyses (RNA and proteins), represents the first operational milestone of this integration and illustrates the ambition to position the facility within a framework of continuous technological innovation.

In the coming weeks, the consolidation of all activities and equipment at the Unil Epalinges campus, within the SE-C building, will be completed. This centralization will foster scientific and technological synergies within a unified environment, where other FBM Core Research Facilities are also hosted.

During the transition phase, the services currently offered by both facilities will be fully maintained and remain available to the research community.
