Mihaela-Diana obtained a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico of Milan in Italy followed by completing her M.Sc. in Life Science Engineering at EPFL. During her Master’s Thesis at Yale University, she investigated the causal relationship between Anxiety Disorders and changes in brain regions. She developed a strong interest in genetics and causal inference analysis, and motivated by this, she decided to apply for a Ph.D. position in Zoltan Kutalik’s Lab of Statistical Genetics. During her Ph.D. she will mostly focus on non-linear Mendelian Randomization methods. Aside from science, she enjoys hiking, photography and painting.
