Where: the University of Lausanne, Switzerland

CfP Deadline: 30 November 2024

Confirmation of acceptance will be shared by the end of December, and registration for the conference will open in March. We have pre-booked rooms at a special conference rate in select hotels and hostels within Lausanne, details of which will be shared shortly.

Overview

The conference will take place on the idyllic campus of the University of Lausanne, located on the shores of the Lac Léman, among fields of grazing UNIL sheep. More specifically, we will occupy a section of the IDHEAP building, just a five minute walk from the Mouline metro stop, across the road from the Géopolis (see map) – conveniently home to the best cafeteria on campus.

The programme will unfold with a mixture of inspiring keynote lectures and parallel sessions, thoughtfully interspersed with tea and coffee breaks, as well as lunches at a variety of campus eateries. Alongside our academic programme, the conference will also include a welcome apéro and immersive experience of The Cloud of Unknowing on the evening of the 10th of September, and a conference dinner on the 11th.

The conference will be appended on late Friday afternoon by an exaugural lecture by Professor Denis Renevey, followed by an apéro celebrating his illustrious career in Lausanne, to which all delegates are invited.

For those remaining in Lausanne over the weekend, we propose a Saturday excursion over the waves of the Léman on board a Belle Époque paddle steamer from Lausanne to the Château de Chillon. There, participants will be met with a choice of activities: either visiting the medieval castle of Chillon, going on a picturesque shoreside walk to Vevey, or opting for a swim in the lake.

From there, we will proceed to a sunset winetasting at the Grandvaux vineyard, overlooking the UNESCO world heritage site, the Lavaux terrace vineyards, with the option to proceed to a fondue evening in an intimate Pinte in Lausanne’s charming old town.
