Overview
Renfei Gao is a Presidential Fellow at Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS), the University of Manchester. He serves as the PhD coordinator at the People, Management, and Organization Division (PMO) at AMBS. Prior to working in the UK, he has been working at the University of Melbourne, Australia, as a Melbourne Early Career Academic Fellow in 2019 and a PhD Teaching Fellow in 2018. He finished PhD in Management in July 2019 at the University of Melbourne. He received a Master of Commerce (Management) from the University of Melbourne in 2015 and a Bachelor of Management from Beijing Normal University in 2013. He has taught subjects at both undergraduate and master levels, such as Strategic Management, International Business, Research Methods, and Chinese Business and Economy. His research interests include behavioral strategy, corporate governance, nonmarket strategy, and international business, with a special focus on emerging markets. His papers have appeared in leading journals and conference proceedings, such as Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (FT50, ABS4), Journal of Product Innovation Management (ABS4), Strategic Organization (ABS3), Asia Pacific Journal of Management (ABS3), and Academy of Management Best Paper Proceedings (3 pieces). His research has been presented extensively at leading international conferences, such as AOM, SMS, AIB, Asia AOM, IACMR, ANZAM, and ANZIBA. His papers have been nominated for 2018 AOM IM Division GWU-CIBER Best Paper on Emerging Markets Award, and 2019 ANZIBA Conference Best Paper Award. He also won the 2018 AOM IM Division Best Reviewer Award. He was the winner of the PhD Best Paper Award of Management and Marketing at the University of Melbourne in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He has won the Chinese National Scholarship (2012) and Chinese National Graduate Scholarship (2014) during his study in China.
