Hello, I am

Johannes DAVID

I’m a PhD student at the HEC Lausanne Department of Information Systems (DESI), under the co-supervision of Prof. Yash Raj Shrestha (Applied Artificial Intelligence Lab) and Prof. Aurelia Tamò-Larrieux (Legal Design & Code Lab). My research focuses on examining what drives the real-world utility of AI in the legal domain, understanding the practical barriers to its adoption in organizations, and exploring how AI can improve access to justice for all.

I’m also a software engineer at Caritas Switzerland, where I put this research into practice by building AI tools to support legal aid in asylum cases. My core focus is ensuring that technology is designed collaboratively to address concrete needs, rather than developed in a vacuum and imposed on practitioners.
