DESI Seminar by Prof. Carlotta Domeniconi

Dear all,

We would like to invite you to DESI seminar by Prof. Carlotta Domeniconi [George Mason University]

When & Where: 23 Oct 2023 (Mon) @ 12:00-13:00 [Internef 237]

Title: Graphs and Manifolds: A Complex Data Journey

Abstract:
Large and complex data sets have become omnipresent, in areas as far ranging as genomics to social network analysis to education, and with this onslaught has come the demand to mine this data for discoveries critical to these fields. In this talk I highlight techniques I have developed to tackle the challenges of learning from complex and high dimensional data.  These include pattern discovery and prediction in graphs, and exemplar-driven machine learning methods. I will focus on a community detection approach that uses both graph and text data, and will show how to leverage exemplars to learn data manifolds in a robust fashion.
