{"id":435,"date":"2023-10-08T22:46:13","date_gmt":"2023-10-08T20:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/walras\/?page_id=435"},"modified":"2023-10-08T22:46:14","modified_gmt":"2023-10-08T20:46:14","slug":"tokyo-2024","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/walras\/conferences\/tokyo-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Tokyo (2024)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Call for Papers<br>The 11th Conference of the International Walras Association<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Walras&#8217;s <em>Elements of Pure Economics <\/em>150 years after<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Tokyo, September 9\u201310, 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 11th Conference of the International Walras Association will be held at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meiji.ac.jp\/cip\/english\/about\/campus\/index.html\">Meiji University, Surugadai Campus<\/a>, Tokyo from September 9 to 10, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The year 2024 marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of the first book of the first edition of Walras&#8217;s <em>\u00c9l\u00e9ments d&#8217;\u00e9conomie politique pure <\/em>(1874-77). In this groundbreaking book, Walras presented a general equilibrium theory in the mathematical form for the first time, ushering in the era of modern economic theory. The conference welcomes papers focusing on the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The current meaning and significance of Walras&#8217;s <em>\u00c9l\u00e9ments d&#8217;\u00e9conomie politique pure<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How Walras&#8217;s general equilibrium theory has been interpreted, developed, and disseminated since the publication of the <em>\u00c9l\u00e9ments d&#8217;\u00e9conomie politique pure <\/em>in 1874.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The unsolved critical issues surrounding its interpretation (e.g., the role of Walras&#8217;s metaphysics and epistemology, the hermeneutic link between Walras&#8217;s pure, applied, and social economics, the time structure of his general equilibrium, entrepreneurs and uncertainty, money neutrality, capital theory).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The significance of the Marginal Revolution. The key differences among Jevons, Menger, and Walras that warrant contemporary attention. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This conference also serves as a tribute to Donald Walker (1934\u20132023), a historian of economic thought and the founder of the International Walras Association, commemorating his tremendous contributions to the study of Walras. Therefore, we especially welcome proposals of papers focusing on Walker&#8217;s studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals for papers on any aspect of Walras&#8217;s economics (applied and social economics) are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An abstract <\/strong>within 300 words (in English or French) should be submitted <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=ng6GRk-4QUGHd9AB1-mgZjN5_RcfICJGm9MuqeB_mn1UQkFOSEdWMEM0OExVNjNFTzUwRlJZVk5ETC4u\">by clicking here<\/a>, <strong>latest by February 9, 2024<\/strong>. Notifications of the acceptance of papers will be sent <strong>in March 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Full papers must be submitted <strong>by July 31, 2024<\/strong>. We accept English and French papers; but if you are submitting a French paper, please present your paper at the conference in English or prepare your presentation materials in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Details of the conference will also be announced on the website of the International Walras Association (<a href=\"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/walras\/\">https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/walras\/<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference will be co-hosted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isc.meiji.ac.jp\/~fj\/index.html\">La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Franco-Japonaise des Sciences Economiques<\/a> and Department of Economics, School of Political Science and Economics, Meiji University.
