Vyshnavi T Vijayan joins the lab as a PhD student using biochemical and molecular biology approaches to study cell wall hydrolases in E. coli<\/em>. Vyshnavi completed her MSc in Biological Science from IISER Thiruvananthapuram, India, where she studied the interaction of host receptors and adenovirus. We are excited to have you in the lab!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14\/10\/2025 The first Vettiger Lab preprint is out!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Didi’s work on the spatiotemporal insertion dynamics of mycomembrane porins is out on bioRxiv<\/a>. This has been a collaborative effort of the Bernhardt and Vettiger labs and marks our first official contribution to the field of cell envelope biogenesis in Corynebacterium glutamicum<\/em>. To many more! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

27-28\/08-2025 SSM meeting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We attend the annual Swiss Society for Microbiology Meeting<\/a> for the first time as a lab. It was good fun meeting old and new friends! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

27\/03\/2025 SNSF Project Grant Approved!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good news, our first SNSF Project Grant<\/a> on the spatiotemporal regulation of cell wall hydrolyses was approved!!! We are very excited to expand our efforts on this project and will be recruiting soon PhD and postdocs. Additionally, the Navarro lab also received an other SNSF Grant on a different project – lots of reasons to celebrate \ud83d\ude09 Excited to see where these projects will take us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachel Hope joins us as our second PhD student. Rachel completed her MSc in the lab of Mark Leak at University of York Investigating replication-transcription conflicts in E. coli <\/em>using single-molecule biophysics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lucy Miles joins us all the way from Australia for 8 month internship focused on cell morphology in polar growing bacteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All available position have been filled during the first round of recruitment and we currently do not have funding available for additional positions. We are still actively looking for undergraduate and masters students to join us for a first step or MSc-thesis project!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
