Getting to Lausanne by train
For environmental reasons, we recommend the train as the preferred means of transport. From Paris-Gare de Lyon station, it will take you just 4 hours to reach Lausanne by TGV Lyria direct.
Getting to Lausanne by plane
Geneva airport is the closest, and Lausanne is easily reached by train.
From Geneva airport, the train station is a 5-minute walk from the baggage area. There are around 5 trains an hour to Lausanne’s main station for most of the day (most direct, some with connections). The journey takes 45 to 60 minutes. A one-way ticket costs CHF 29. Please note that return tickets are valid for travel on the same day.
Getting to Lausanne by car
Lausanne is easily accessible by car from France via Geneva or Vallorbe. A vignette is required to drive on Swiss freeways.
Parking in Lausanne can be quite expensive and difficult to find.
Getting around Lausanne
Lausanne has excellent public transport links. If you stay in a hotel and pay the tourist tax, you will receive a Lausanne Transport Card valid for the entire duration of your stay (including the day of your departure). This allows you to freely use all modes of public transport with the city and certain surrounding areas.
