{"id":582,"date":"2013-05-25T12:33:43","date_gmt":"2013-05-25T10:33:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/sgg\/?page_id=582"},"modified":"2013-05-25T12:33:43","modified_gmt":"2013-05-25T10:33:43","slug":"postitions-inactive","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wp.unil.ch\/sgg\/postitions-inactive\/","title":{"rendered":"Postitions-inactive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Postdoctoral position in Statistical Genetics<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Background:<\/strong> The group of Zolt\u00e1n Kutalik (at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine, CHUV and FBM, University of Lausanne) is developing methods tailored to address specific aspects of genome-wide association studies. We are interested in studying the missing heritability phenomenon, gene-environment interactions, molecular phenotype integration, phenotype evolution over time, allelic heterogeneity, copy-number variant associations etc. Via longstanding collaborations we are fortunate to have access to several large genome-wide association studies and exome sequencing data sets. We have an extensive web of collaborations both in Switzerland (University Hospital (CHUV), Center for Integrative Genomics (CIG), Vital-IT, UNIGE) and abroad (Imperial College London, University of Regensburg, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, University of Milan, Queensland Institute of Medical Research, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Prerequisites:<\/strong> We are interested in recruiting a talented individual with PhD in statistics \/ mathematics \/ bioinformatics \/ computer science \/ physics. The ideal candidate should have<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>decent background in statistics<\/li>\n<li>good programming skills (R or Matlab languages preferred, C++ is a plus)<\/li>\n<li>having past experience with solving biological problems (especially experience with genome-wide association studies) with computational tools is an advantage<\/li>\n<li>good communication skills and excellent command of English (French is a plus)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tasks:<\/strong> The candidate will be responsible for<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>developing novel methodologies<\/li>\n<li>performing genome-wide association studies<\/li>\n<li>leading international meta-analysis efforts<\/li>\n<li>analysing sequencing data<\/li>\n<li>optionally participating in teaching<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The group:<\/strong> The position is at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unil.ch\/dgm\/page13525.html\">Department of Medical Genetics (DGM)<\/a> of the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. The department offers a stimulating, young and international environment with state of the art laboratory and computer facilities.
