\"ZK1\"Zolt\u00e1n is trained as applied mathematician (specialized in statistics) and graduated in 2002 at the\u00a0E\u00f6tv\u00f6s Lor\u00e1nd University<\/a>, Budapest, Hungary. Obtained his MPhil degree in 2003 at the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology<\/a> and his PhD in 2006 at the School of Computing Sciences, University of East Anglia<\/a>, Norwich, UK & the Computational Microbiology Lab<\/a>, IFR. His PhD research aimed at modelling and connecting bacterial growth at the population-, single cell- and transcriptomic levels.<\/p>\n

2006-2010 Zolt\u00e1n was a postdoctoral research assistant in the Computational Biology Group<\/a> of Sven Bergmann at the Department of Computational Biology<\/a>\u00a0(University of Lausanne, Switzerland) and affiliated with the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics<\/a>. In 2009 he spent three months as a visiting scientist at the Evolutionary Systems Biology Group<\/a>\u00a0(Szeged, Hungary).<\/p>\n

In 2011 Zolt\u00e1n became junior lecturer at the Department of Medical Genetics and in 2013 he was nominated as assistant professor at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (IUMSP) <\/a>at the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV). In 2015 Zolt\u00e1n was appointed as honorary senior lecturer at the University of Exeter Medical School<\/a> and in 2018 as associate professor at the University of Lausanne. His main interest lies in developing statistical methods that connect large scale data sets (genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and clinically important phenotypes) in order to reveal novel molecular mechanisms underlying disease and infer causal effects of various risk factors on complex traits.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
