He has a mixed background in ecology and geomorphology, and pursued his PhD at EAWAG, investigating the effects of artificial floods on the ecosystems of regulated alpine rivers. His work in the RivEs lab focuses on the ecological function of large wood in rivers, in natural and river restoration contexts.
